35.3 shot 1Paddy Ramsden had an epic session recently and this is how it unfolded…….

After a weather check predicting very light winds and a little sun, I felt I was in with a chance of locating a few carp. I decided to do a few laps of the lake until I spotted some tell-tale signs and after 4 hours knew I had found them. In late winter, Opting for Peg 6, and fishing at range in only 4ft of water, the session started with a bang when after 4 hours I had had a run on each rod.

Into darkness and a change of tactics over to large pop ups which resulted in a run of carp of five more pick-ups in 90 minutes, whilst the temperature dropped down to -2ºC. As dawn approached, three more takes followed landing two and losing the other. At 10am I had two stunning mid doubles in quick succession followed by yet another double take, with one of the fish weeding me up, but a quick trip out in the boat soon resulted in another fish in the net.

I ended up with 15 takes resulting in landing 13 carp weighing in at 14, 15, 15, 18, 20.1, 20.4, 22.12, 26.5, 27.1, 29.0, 30.4, 31.2 and a 35.3….all in less than 24hr hours!!!
