Geoff Wynn enjoyed a trip to the lake on the 27th September that resulted in somewhat of a mixed bag of pbs…….
I decided on peg 8 after seeing a number of fish cruising in the weed off the island. I set up and at 4pm had my first run which went absolutely mental and after 10 minutes I found out why – it was a pike! I landed it and it was a new pike pb at 18lb 8oz on a chod rig nailed perfectly in the scissors. Strange I must admit but was a welcome surprise
At 2am I received a take on a zig close to where the fish had been showing and landed my first 20 from the lake at 22lb. I would have been happy at that but at 5am I had my 3rd take of the session and after a good scrap I landed a nice fish. Upon trying to move it on to the mat, I realized it was a good fish, bigger than I had first thought. Only when I got a proper look at it on the mat did I realize it could be a new pb and the scales confirmed it at 32lb 14oz.
I just wanted to say thanks for advice and help down at the lake from the lads, I’ve had plenty of blank sessions down there but this has made up for every 1 of them.
