Since I have been working at the lake; back in the days were I was grateful for a few days labour in exchange for a few nights fishing, I have witnessed things progress dramatically. And the last two seasons managing things full time have been no different.
This season has seen moments of magic already with “3 scale” setting a new Yorkshire record and Dodger landing “blackscale” at 50lb 6oz. Over the last couple of months there have been numerous discussions among members and myself with regards to the progression of stock, the weight gains achieved and what will happen next
Steve Appleyard has played a big part in numerous operations including work undertaken on both the Oxbow and Willows and marshaling numerous Erics Carp Championships (which is now live) and we are thankful.
It was over a season ago that we were witness to “Lumpy” landed at 49lb to Mr Hope in peg 7 prior to spawning, so when I received a frantic call from Steve in the early hours the other morning I was over the moon to here that he had landed the same fish from the same peg at a new record weight. The fish was re-weighed and verified by 3 people on two sets of scales not that there is any doubt given his involvement
Brief track record
49lb Pre spawning 2014
48lb 14oz November 2014
42lb Spawned out 2015
46lb post spawning 2015
Erics Willows Lake; 4th confirmed 50; “Lumpy” weighing in at 50lb 2oz landed by Steve Appleyard.
Massive Congratulations from all the lads at Erics, much deserved!
